Georg Weise
Over the past two decades the contemporary German artist Georg Weise has created a unique oeuvre of paintings, drawings and sculptures, which he has exhibited more than 80 times globally.
In 1973, Georg Weise was born in Berlin, but spent most of his childhood in Mecklenburg. As a young adult he returned to Berlin to establish himself as an artist, and to study art at Kuntshochschule Berlin-Weissensee. Apart from numerous trips to Mexico and South east Asia, Georg Weise lives and works in Berlin-Friedrichshain.
The artist has found his subject at the very beginning of his career: the self-portraits of his youth are only the starting point of a series of sensitive portraits of boys and young men who show their soul to the world in surroundings and landscapes which become more and more subtle over the years.
Georg Weise has created his own aesthetic realm by refining his techniques until they convey the very moment when his vision of beauty becomes one with the beholder: “Art should create mysteries! There was a time when I perceived the world as enchanted. …With art I can recreate this very first feeling and make others see with my own eyes. It is all about that magic moment.” (Georg Weise)
